A Detailed Explanation of the Position:

Role: Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver (CDL is a Plus) No CDL Required

Reporting to: Kevin Williams, Fleet Manager, Proctor

Primary Responsibilities:

• Driving 26ft Box Trucks or Semi-Trucks: Team DEG OTR truck drivers typically operate 26ft box trucks, full trucks or semi-trucks designed for long-distance hauling. These units are equipped to handle a variety of freight types, providing durability and efficiency for extended journeys.

• Loading and Unloading: Our 26ft Box trucks are mostly “No-touch freight”. Our Semi-trucks are Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring that goods are properly secured and transported without damage.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate activity logs using electronic logging devices (ELDs) to track driving hours and compliance with regulations.

• Communication: Report any issues or incidents to dispatch in a timely manner to ensure smooth operations and address any concerns promptly.

• Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of the truck before and after each trip to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Types of Units Driven by DEG OTR Truck Drivers: 

1. Semi-Trucks: Tractor-trailers used for long-distance hauling, capable of carrying large volumes of freight.

2. 26 ft Box Trucks (Straight Trucks): Enclosed trucks often used for shorter hauls or urban deliveries, providing versatility and flexibility for various types of cargo.

Trucking Driver Type:

• Company driver

• Owner-operator

• Solo driver

• Team driver​

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in OTR long haul truck driving.

• Driver (CDL is a Plus) No CDL Required (Box Truck)

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (Non-Box Truck Driver).

• Current DOT Medical Card.

• Clean Driver Motor Vehicle Record (3 years).

• Ability to handle physical workload and perform tasks such as loading and unloading cargo.

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.

• Route Navigation: Following established routes and delivery schedules to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and monitoring fuel efficiency.

Compensation:

• Base Salary: $1000-$1500 per week (based on experience, performance, mileage, schedule or time out on the road)

• Payment: Weekly, starting on Mondays

• Referrals: Encourage others to join the program, and you’ll earn extra income from their driving. The average referral fee is $500. For instance, if you refer 4 new qualified drivers monthly that are hired and drive for 30 days per, your potential monthly earnings would be: Monthly Earnings= 4×$500=$2000 local or 4x $1000= $4000 OTR.

• Background Check Required: Through "DEC Second Chance", DEG companies often evaluate candidates on a case-by-case basis, considering the nature of the felony, how long ago it occurred, and the candidate’s overall qualifications and rehabilitation efforts.​
